Greenhouse effect is when sunlight is trapped in a building, increasing the temperature. Think of the Earth: due to increase of carbon dioxide in the lower atmosphere from combustion of fossil fuels, it is trapping the heat from escaping.

yeah @Jamaina gave a good answer but i wouldn’t worry about it because it’s unit 9. just know carbon dioxide accelerates climate change which leads to higher temps, higher sea levels, etc.
