Which protein structures affect others? For example, I know that a change in an amino acid in primary structure affects secondary, tertiary, and quaternary structures, but does a change in the way alpha helixes and beta sheets in secondary structure interact affect primary, tertiary, and quaternary structures? Or does it just affect tertiary and quaternary?
I would say that it would just affect the tertiary and quaternary. If there was a change in the secondary, though, it may be a result of a change in the primary.
