DNA sequencing

Can someone explain what DNA sequencing is, and the purpose of it? Thanks!

DNA sequencing is a very broad topic. It jus means that the sequence of a particular gene is being looked for. The scientist is trying to find the AGCT sequence. They might use electrophoresis, Sangner Sequencing, DNA libraries and many other tools to help them find it. The purposes are unlimited. Finding the parent of a child? Finding the criminal? Treating a disease? Identifying a species? Many applications

DNA sequencing deals with biotechnology and has to do with determining the DNA sequence/ pattern of base pairs that make up the genetic material. The purpose is to be able to identify the genetic makeup and it is useful for evolutionary research and things of that nature.
