It can work as either ethos or logos - those two appeals often work in unison. However, don’t stress about labeling them. Identify the writing choices that would be most impactful to the target audience. If you describe the writing choice in your own words and then focus your efforts on analysis, you’ll be successful. We’d much rather see you put the writing choice in your own words than pigeonholing yourself to a list of devices. It can definitely hurt your score if the label you put on the writing choice doesn’t perfectly work. So it’s much better to put the writing choice in your own words.
