Law of segregation/Law of independent assortment

What are the differences between the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment?

@orlasimpson2727_5771
The law of segregation says that centrosomes will pull chromosomes apart however they want to, meaning that if they pull the chromosomes unevenly, this will lead to disorders.
The law of independent assortment allows for more genetic variation by allowing the chromosomes to line up in any order at the metaphase plate in metaphase.

Hope this helps :slight_smile:
