Neurotransmitters question

What is ssri?

it is an anti depressant that reuptakes serotonin

SSRI stands for Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. These molecules are typically used in anti-depressant medication, and they block the reuptake process of serotonin. This results in serotonin remaining active in the synapse longer, boosting its mood-boosting effects.

it prevents serotonin reuptake - in other words, it prevents the neuron for eating up excess serotonin so that you can have more serotonin = better moods
