What are all of the neurotransmitters and too much too little effects of them.
There are six major neurotransmitters covered in the course:
Acetylcholine (ACH), Dopamine, Serotonin, Norepinephrine, GABA and Glutamate.
ACH: enables muscle action, learning and memory; ACH-producing neurons deteriorate in Alzheimer’s
Dopamine: influences movement, learning, attention, and emotion; too little is linked to Parkison’s; too much is linked to Schizophrenia
Serotonin: affects mood, hunger, sleep and arousal; too little: depression
Norephinephrine: helps control alertness and arousal; too little: depression
GABA: major inhibitory neurotransmitter; too little: seizures, tremors or insomnia
Glutamate: major excitatory neurotransmitter; too much: migraines and seizures
