Could you explain how lac operons and Trp operons work
Ms. Koffke will be going over this later tonight in the cram stream, but here’s a replay of a previous Fiveable stream: https://app.fiveable.me/ap-bio/unit-6/gene-expression-cell-specialization-mutations/watch/AGRNgCWn8K8kLbksOGEN?t=881
Lac operons are inducible. These are always being created until the operon is repressed. When it is repressed, the coding region does not make a protein until the operon is opened again.
Trp operons are the opposite. These are always repressed until it is needed.
This is just a quick overview, as we will look at it in detail later tonight!
