what is opium war

Britain wanted to open up China for trade and they did so by forcing Chinese people to buy opium even after the emperor forbade. The opium wars were between Britain and China related to economic imperialism and Britain won with the Treaty of Nanjing and the Unequal Treaties which allowed them to carve up spheres of influence in China for economic purposes
