Phototransduction Pathway

Hi,

Can you please explain the difference between the catylitic receptor, Ligand gated ion receptor, and the G-protien receptor?

Thanks

Hey there! A catalytic receptor on a cell membrane allows enzymes to bind from the outside, causing a reaction on the inside of the cell. Ligand gated ion receptors allow ions to pass through embedded proteins (or gates) by having neurotransmitters (ligand) attach to the gate. In a G-protein receptor, when a neurotransmitter binds to the receptor, a G-protein inside the cell dissociates, causing a reaction.
