Why doesn’t alternative splicing occur in prokaryotic cells? What other modifications do not occur in prokaryotic cells?
Remember because prokaryotes dont have the nucleus the processes of transcription and translation are coupled meaning that the mrna is translated as soon as it’s made. Alternative splicing would stp this coupling thus, it dosent happen in prokaryotes.
