Proportions vs means

how is p categorical while mew is quantitative

Notice how p does not have units while mu does!

If a question is, “What’s your favorite color?” You can’t use numbers to portray that data, you can only use proportions to show the percent of people that like certain colors. If a question is, “How many sour patch kids are in a giant bag?” - then you can use numbers to describe it. P means proportions, and that’s categorical because colors are in categories for example, while the number of sour patch kids is quantitative, so we use mu.
