I strongly suggest you connect each of the rhetorical choices to the speaker’s purpose. It’s not really an either/or situation. The thesis is supposed to be debatable (according to the rubric), so it should do more than just restate what words are on the page. It should present an argument about WHY those words are there and what the speaker is trying to do with those words.
