Let’s say there’s a cube sliding across a frictionless platform. It then hits a wall. At the exact instance it hits the wall, what’s the net force and what are all the forces acting on the cube?

Hi PinaColada!
At the exact moment the block contacts the wall there will be 3 forces acting on the block:
- Weight (acting down)
- Normal Force from the platform (acting up) & equal to the weight (I’m assuming it’s a horizontal platform)
- Normal Force from the wall (acting in the opposite direction the block was moving) <-- This is the net force because it’s unbalanced.
