Question Formation

How do you answer an FRQ question without restating the question?

It really depends on the question. A lot of times, you just need to go into more detail. If a question asks you to DESCRIBE how a forest fire impacts a certain habitat, don’t just say “A forest fire negatively impacts this habitat”. That’s just restating the question. You need to pull in examples and take the question a bit further by describing HOW it does so.

For example, a better answer would be “A forest fire would negatively impact this habitat because it would burn down a lot of trees, and these trees may be homes to native birds and squirrels. Therefore, there would be a lot of habitat loss for these animals which could be detrimental to their populations.”
