Whats the difference between random assignment and random sampling?
Random sampling is when you are taking a group from your population to participate in your study. For example, putting everyone’s name in a hat and pulling out 25 people to complete a survey.
Random assignment is when you are doing an experiment and need to divide people into control/experimental groups. They need to have an equal chance of being placed into either group - again you could put all your participants name in a hat and then sort them that way.
