Reticular formation

WHats reticular formation?

It is in your brainstem and is responsible for arousal. If you RF is damaged during surgery, you will be in a permanent coma.

Part of the brainstem, a network of neurons through the brainstem, thought to be involved in regulating cycles of consciousness (all day, all night).

The reticular formation is located in the brainstem and controls your conscious alertness. In lab studies where the RTF is removed, the animal subject typically goes into an irreversible coma.
