Could we go over how to find the standard deviation?
Standard deviation is the average distance from the mean of a distribution. It’s a way to quantify the spread of data.
You don’t have to know the specifics for bio. Just know that bigger the standard deviation farther apart the data is and smaller the standard deviation the closer the data is to the mean
Standard deviation comes in handy when looking at error bars. You can only confidently make a conclusion if there’s no lap in error bars. Error bars go 2 standard deviations (technically standard errors but not that important) in each direction.
