What is the difference between consolidating and legitimizing power?
Consolidating is “getting” power, which can be physical or political, such as conquest
Legitimization is once you have the power, “keeping” power, via deeds or ideology, such as works of art.
Consolidating can also be understood as bringing power into a central location/under a singular umbrella. So it can be changing your government style from having a bunch of sub-governors around the hinterlands to having all of the power being centralized under the singular power of one ruler.
